BAYC’s Instagram Hacked, and Several BAYC NFTs Have Been Lost
The popular NFT series was attacked by social media hackers again this month, capturing more victims than the last time.

Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) confirmed on twitter on Monday that its instagram account was hacked. A fraudulent link posted by the hacker seems to have led to the theft of multiple valuable NFTs from the victims.
The link has been removed to a page that claims to be sponsored by Yuga labs. It calls on users to connect their metamask wallets to airdrop land, an upcoming governance and utility token.
However, several holders now claim that their apes were stolen in the relevant scam.
The fraudster’s address has accumulated an estimated $2.7 million worth of NFT — a total of 91 at the time of writing this article. This includes 4 BAYCs, 7 maycs, 3 bakcs, 1 CLONEX, and more.
“There’s no mints today,” BAYC tweeted this morning. “It looks like BAYC instagram has been hacked. Don’t cast anything, click on links, or link your wallet to anything.”Several BAYC accounts have confirmed that BAYC land will have an actual airdrop, but there will be no coinage on April 30.
Opensea, the largest NFT market, has removed its link to swindler addresses. Shortly after BAYC’s instagram was hacked, the organization’s official discord was hacked. Blockchain security company peckshield reported that the hacker attack led to the theft of a mutant ape worth more than $68000.
Earlier this month, another unfortunate holder was fooled into selling his boring ape in a fraudulent NFT exchange, worth more than $500000.Last week, a swindler carried out a similar hacking attack on terra users, using a fake Google link to defraud their private key. He fished more than $4 million in cryptocurrency from the victims in ten days.
