Buenos Aires Will Launch a Blockchain Based Digital Identity Platform
According to the white paper, this will allow people to control their identity, so they are free to choose where to store their data and who can access it.
Buenos Aires revealed its plan to create a digital identity platform, which will be put into use in early 2023, according to a city official. The development came after the city promised to let its residents control their personal data.
The project involves Santiago Siri, a contributor to the human proof project, who is also the developer of the universal basic income (UBI) erc-20 token. Other participants include Leo elduayen, CEO and co-founder of koibank, who is the spokesperson behind the popular asset tokenization and blockchain financial infrastructure companies in Latin America.
Digital Identity Platform
There is also Diego Gutierrez Zaldivar, a famous founder and owner of RSK laboratory, who operates a smart contract blockchain that runs safely on the bitcoin protocol. According to the report of Diego Fernández , Minister of innovation and digital transformation in Buenos Aires, the digital identity platform will be decentralized, public and unlicensed. The Secretary also explained how the platform would be used by companies, government authorities and companies that wanted to create verifiable identities without any approval, even from the city.
Fernandez said the platform will be launched between the fourth quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023. The city’s Secretary for innovation and digital transformation also published a white paper containing recommendations for the platform.
In the development of the project, we have gained the inspiration from the new security model. Buenos Aires also has the motivation to achieve a fast, private, effective and efficient document verification space.
According to the white paper, this will enable people to control their identity, so they are free to choose where to store their data and who can access it. From the existing information, the development of the platform will be completed within 6 months, of which the next 90 days will be used to determine its architecture and blockchain. The only goal of the city’s planned project is to protect privacy and ensure its compatibility with other blockchain technologies in the near future. The digital identity platform in Buenos Aires will be autonomous, which means that it will build trust between the parties concerned while ensuring the authenticity of data and certificates. This is achieved without storing user data or any personal information on the blockchain.
