1. Bitcoin Reclaims $80,000, Gains Nearly 3% in 24 Hours

Bitcoin moved back above $80,000 in early Asian trading, with CoinMarketCap last showing BTC at around $80,978, up 2.96% over 24 hours and 8.49% over seven days. Bitcoin’s market capitalization rose to roughly $1.62 trillion as the cryptocurrency renewed its push toward recent highs after consolidating around $81,000.

 

2. SOL Surges More Than 8% to $109, Sharply Outperforming BTC and ETH

SOL was last trading around $109.03, up 8.32% over 24 hours and 23.53% over seven days, making it one of the strongest performers among major cryptocurrencies. ETH gained 1.37% to $2,522.79 over the same period, while XRP rose 3.76%, as the crypto rally once again broadened from Bitcoin into higher-beta major tokens.

 

3. Total Crypto Market Cap Rises to $2.71 Trillion as Fear & Greed Index Hits 83

CoinMarketCap data showed total crypto market capitalization rising 2.37% over 24 hours to around $2.71 trillion, while trading volume increased 20.57% to $96.15 billion. Bitcoin dominance rose 0.23 percentage points to 59.83%. The Fear & Greed Index reached 83, putting market sentiment in “Extreme Greed” territory.

 

4. BlackRock Digital Assets Head Says Bitcoin’s “Safe-Haven Asset” Narrative Is Regaining Momentum

BlackRock digital assets head Robbie Mitchnick said Bitcoin’s case as a scarce asset outside the sovereign monetary system is drawing renewed attention as investors refocus on US debt, fiscal deficits and declining fiat purchasing power. The return of ETF inflows and a decline in Bitcoin’s correlation with equities have also supported the narrative.

 

5. Nasdaq Jumps 1.57% as Nvidia Leads Technology Stocks Higher

On August 27, the Nasdaq rose 411.16 points to 26,541.35, a gain of 1.57%. The S&P 500 advanced 0.72% to 7,730.99, while the Dow gained 0.20% to 53,569.44. The S&P 500 technology sector surged 3.4%, and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index climbed 2.3%.

 

6. Nvidia Surges 8.7% in Biggest One-Day Gain Since April 2025

Nvidia shares jumped 8.7% as strong revenue and long-term guidance renewed confidence in the sustainability of AI capital spending. The company expects revenue to grow around 70% in the next fiscal year, well above Wall Street’s previous forecast range of roughly 40%–50%. Several investment banks subsequently raised their price targets.

 

7. SK Hynix’s $4 Billion US Plant to Begin HBM4E Production in 2029

SK Hynix said its $4 billion AI chip packaging facility in Indiana is scheduled to begin mass production of HBM4E in the third quarter of 2029. The company expects tight global memory-chip supply to potentially persist through 2030 and currently holds around 58% of the global HBM market.

 

8. Fed Officials Issue Broad Inflation Warnings as Hawkish Signals Strengthen

On the opening day of the Jackson Hole symposium, several Federal Reserve officials emphasized inflation risks. Kansas City Fed President Jeff Schmid said the current 3.50%–3.75% policy rate may be “not restrictive,” while Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack said it remains time to take action to bring inflation under control.

 

9. Warsh Set for Jackson Hole Speech as Global Markets Await Policy Framework

Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh is scheduled to deliver his first keynote address at Jackson Hole since taking office on Friday morning local time, around 10 p.m. Singapore time. Markets are watching how he frames the relationship between persistently high inflation, rising long-term Treasury yields and the US Treasury’s active intervention in the bond market.

 

10. US Initial Jobless Claims Fall to 203,000 as Labor Market Remains Resilient

US initial jobless claims fell by 4,000 to 203,000 in the week ended August 22, below market expectations of 208,000. Continuing claims declined by 18,000 to 1.778 million. Layoffs remain relatively low, giving the Federal Reserve some room to prioritize inflation risks.

 

11. US Goods Trade Deficit Widens to $118.8 Billion in July

The US goods trade deficit widened from $101.4 billion to $118.8 billion in July, its largest level in 16 months. Imports increased 3.7% to $318.2 billion, led by an 11.3% surge in capital-goods imports, while exports declined for a third consecutive month. Trade could continue to weigh on third-quarter GDP growth.

 

12. Iran Sets Conditions for Reopening Strait of Hormuz, Demanding Sanctions and Port Blockade Be Lifted

Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said ending the regional war is one of the conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He added that the US must also lift its blockade of Iranian ports, remove sanctions and pay compensation. Iran and Oman have reached partial agreement on a framework for designated shipping lanes.

 

13. ECB Minutes Show Further Rate Hikes Remain the Baseline Scenario

Minutes from the European Central Bank’s July meeting showed policymakers believe the current pause in rate hikes does not mean the tightening cycle is over. Further increases remain possible if the inflation outlook does not improve materially. Reuters previously reported that the ECB could raise its policy rate from 2.25% to 2.50% in September.

 

14. More Than 100 Technology and Financial Companies Call for Stronger AI Cyber Defenses

More than 100 companies, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Broadcom and Visa, jointly called for an expansion of AI-driven cyber defense capabilities. They warned that AI-assisted cyberattacks could increase further in the coming months and urged governments and businesses to accelerate the sharing of security resources.
