What Are the Benefits of Futures Copy Trading? How to Choose a Lead Trader?
BTCCAuthor: BTCC TeamBTCC Futures Copy Trading allows users to automatically follow a lead trader’s futures trades. It is suitable for users who want to reduce the time spent monitoring and analyzing the market, or who want to explore different trading strategies with part of their funds.
In addition to crypto futures, BTCC Copy Trading also supports futures linked to selected major stocks, giving users access to a wider range of markets and trading strategies. Copy trading fees and profit-sharing rates are also relatively low, helping reduce overall copy trading costs.
To lower the barrier for first-time users, BTCC regularly offers a “First Copy Trade Loss Compensation” campaign. During the campaign, eligible losses from a user’s first closed copy trade may be compensated according to the campaign rules, with up to 50 USDT in Trial Funds available per user.

1. What Are the Benefits of Futures Copy Trading?
1. Lower Barrier to Entry
Futures Copy Trading allows users to automatically copy a lead trader’s opening and closing trades. For users who do not have enough time to monitor the market or are not yet familiar with futures trading strategies, copy trading can reduce the need for independent analysis and manual execution.
2. Save Time on Trading
Markets can move quickly, and analyzing trends and identifying entry and exit points can be time-consuming. With Copy Trading, users can follow a lead trader’s strategy while the system automatically executes copy trades based on their settings, reducing the need for constant market monitoring and manual order placement.
3. Learn From Experienced Trading Strategies
On the BTCC Market Board, users can review each lead trader’s historical performance, PnL curve, Win rate, AUM, and trading preferences. These metrics can help users understand a trader’s strategy and choose one that better matches their own risk tolerance.
4. Diversify Trading Strategies
Users can follow multiple lead traders based on their needs, reducing reliance on a single trader or strategy. For example, some traders may focus on short-term, high-frequency trading, while others may prefer longer-term trend strategies. Users can build a mix based on their own preferences.
5. More Transparent Trading Data
BTCC displays key lead trader metrics, including Lead trader’s 30d PnL, Win rate, AUM, Leading contracts, and No. of copy traders. Users can review this information before copying a trader to better assess their historical performance and trading style.
2. How to Choose a Lead Trader?
The BTCC Market board lets users filter and sort lead traders by 【Overall ranking】, 【Total PnL】, 【AUM】, 【PnL%】, 【Win rate】, 【Rising stars】, and 【No. of copy traders】.
When choosing a lead trader, it is generally better to consider several factors rather than focusing on a single performance metric.
1. Review Historical PnL Performance
High returns do not necessarily mean a strategy is more consistent. Rather than focusing only on a sudden short-term gain, consider whether the trader’s PnL curve has remained relatively stable over time and whether they have experienced significant drawdowns or volatility.
2. Consider the Win Rate
Win rate shows the percentage of historical trades that were profitable, but it does not represent overall profitability on its own.
For example, a trader with a high Win rate may still see overall returns affected by a small number of large losses. Win rate should therefore be considered together with PnL performance, trading frequency, and position-holding style.
3. Understand the Trading Style
Click a lead trader’s card to open their profile and review additional information, such as:
• Frequently traded pairs
• Trading frequency
• Holding period
• PnL performance
• AUM
• Copy trader performance
If a lead trader favors high leverage and short-term, high-frequency trading, their returns may also fluctuate more significantly. Traders who hold positions for longer periods may require users to consider whether they are comfortable with the corresponding holding periods and potential drawdowns.
4. Check AUM and No. of Copy Traders
【AUM】 reflects the amount of copy trading funds currently managed by the lead trader, while 【No. of copy traders】 shows how many users are currently following them.
These figures can be useful references, but a higher AUM or more copy traders does not guarantee higher future returns.
5. Avoid Chasing Short-Term High Returns
A lead trader’s historical returns may be affected by market conditions, leverage, and position concentration. It is recommended to compare performance across different time periods rather than choosing a trader based only on recent return rankings.
3. Relatively Low Profit-Sharing Rates
On BTCC Copy Trading, copy traders share a portion of their copy trading profits with lead traders. The profit-sharing rate is generally 10%–15%, depending on the rate displayed on the lead trader’s page.
Profit sharing is charged only when a copy trade generates profits. If no profit is generated, no profit-sharing fee is generally charged. Please refer to the BTCC platform and the latest rules for the actual applicable terms.
