Nvidia (NVDA) to Continue Sponsoring H-1B Visas After Fee Hike

Tech giant refuses to let immigration costs derail its talent acquisition strategy

THE HIGH-PRICED TALENT GAME

Nvidia's betting that top-tier engineers are worth every penny of those increased government fees. While other companies might balk at the extra costs, NVDA's plowing ahead with its global recruitment drive.

CHIPS AND VISAS

The semiconductor behemoth needs specialized talent to maintain its edge in the AI arms race. H-1B sponsorships remain crucial for accessing the world's brightest minds—apparently, American universities aren't producing enough homegrown geniuses to meet demand.

WALL STREET'S CYNICAL SMILE

Because nothing says 'bullish on innovation' like paying premium prices for paperwork. Investors probably see this as just another line item in the 'cost of dominating the market' column.

Bottom line: When you're printing money in the AI gold rush, what's a few extra million in visa fees between friends?

Nvidia to Continue Sponsoring H-1B Visas Despite Trump’s Executive Order

An H-1B visa is a temporary, employment-based visa that allows U.S. companies to hire highly skilled foreign workers in specialty fields such as technology, engineering, and medicine. Typically, H-1B visas are awarded based on a lottery system. However, the TRUMP administration feels that the system has long been overused and abused by immigrants, taking opportunities from American workers. Thus, the bill replaces the current lottery system with a model awarding visas to the highest-bidding employers.

It is unclear whether or not the $100,000 fee is addition to, or inclusive of, existing fees. The existing program fees include $215 to register for the lottery and $780 for the petition, known as an I-29, filed by an employer sponsor. Per USCIS data, California, home to Nvidia in Santa Clara, has consistently ranked first in the country since 2018 in the number of H-1B visa applications received annually.

In his message to staff this week, the Nvidia (NVDA) CEO insisted “legal immigration remains essential to ensuring the U.S. continues to lead in technology and ideas,” and that the Trump administration’s “recent changes reaffirm this.” The leading GPU manufacturer Nvidia’s stock is trading below the $200 level in October. However, financial strategists have given a ‘buy’ call, urging investors to take an entry position below the $200 mark. 65 financial analysts from CNN Business provided their forecast on NVDA this month. 91% of the analysts gave Nvidia stock a buy call, while 8% of them gave ‘hold’. Only 2% of the analysts were bearish on NVDA and urged investors to sell.
